Karsyn Robb
Genre: Country / Pop
For ten years Karsyn Robb performed in numerous musical productions and dance competitions, where she developed a sense of ease and love for being on stage. Five years ago she began playing guitar, writing songs and composing music. Now, at age 16, Karsyn has penned over 200 songs on the guitar, piano and mandolin. She performs widely throughout her home state of Utah and ventures out of state as well. Her music, a mixture of country and pop inspired by artists such as Jewel, Taylor Swift and Michelle Branch, is filled with passion and heart. “I love performing solo because I really like to connect with the audience,” she says, “but I like playing with the band too because there’s such great energy.”
Although her journey is just beginning, Karsyn is making her mark on the music world. In 2010, she was awarded First Place in the Utah Health Department Media/Song contest with, “You Told Me,” a song about domestic violence for sale now on iTunes. All proceeds from the single are donated to the Peace House, a local women’s shelter in Park City. “By sharing experiences, either my own or those of others, in my songs,” says Karsyn, “I hope to help people deal with difficult periods in their lives.”
There’s a lot that Karsyn wants to achieve. She is graduating a year early to pursue a degree in songwriting, and has already started writing songs for others. Her goals are to get signed by a record label or publisher, go on tour and organize benefit concerts. With her determination and the growing number of people who love her songs, she is well on her way to fulfilling those dreams. If you want to know Karsyn, she suggests one simple thing: “Just listen to my songs.”
